FAQs

Why do you only translate into English?

Like most professional translators, I only translate from foreign languages into my native tongue. The reason being that it is very difficult to reach as high a standard of translation when working into a language which is not your own, no matter how much experience you have! Have you ever seen a translation that just didn’t seem right, or downright didn’t make any sense at all? I can almost guarantee that these have been translated by non-native speakers of the target language. To see what I’m talking about, visit http://www.itiscotland.org.uk/howlers

Why do you not have a set price per word for your translations?

The reason why I do not have a set price for all of my translations is because translations that are very technical or that involve very specific terms related to a niche topic will take more time and effort to produce. Likewise, if you would like a translation done quickly but to the same standard as the rest of my translations, I also demand a higher rate!

I’m an (insert nationality here) expatriate living in France for the first time, and I’m completely lost. Can you help me get my health insurance and child benefits in order?

Yes. I too have been through all of these struggles as an expat, and have years of experience helping other expatriates deal with these problems. For those who are not used to the French bureaucracy, dealing with agencies like the CPAM and the CAF can be a real headache, but I can take care of everything on your behalf to help put your mind at ease.

How do I pay?

You can pay either via Paypal, cheque or bank transfer. Your finished translation will only be posted once payment has been sent. Although my preferred currencies are EUR and GBP, I do accept other major currencies. Please get in touch for details.

I don’t need a perfect translation, I just need something that makes sense. Do you offer low prices for lower quality translations?

No. Offering low-quality translations would reflect badly on my business and so therefore, I only offer high quality translations. My prices are a reflection on my work and so by paying more, you get more.
